Invites applicants for a

Family Services Worker

The Family Services Worker works with families where there are protection concerns with the goal of lowering risk factors to where the family can be reunited as well as providing administrative support to the Community Care Team. This is a full-time position working Monday to Thursday 9:00AM – 4:30PM and Friday 9:00AM – 2:30PM.

Duties

  • Works closely with families whose children are in care in order to ensure they have adequate supports that promote reunification or reduction of risk;
  • Provides navigation to clients ensuring they are referred to the appropriate services and worker;
  • Works closely with other members of the CCP Team to refer families at risk to internal or when necessary external program and resources that will assist them to stabilize and reduce risk factors;
  • Works closely with the Family Counsellor to ensure families at risk participate in counselling services where deemed necessary;
  • Develops group sessions and workshops to assist community members to develop healthy lifestyle alternatives;
  • Maintains family files to Weechi-te-win Family Services and Ministry standards;
  • Builds cooperative working relationships with community members, partnering organizations, and other service providers;

Qualifications:

  • Must possess Grade 12 Diploma or GED.  Post-secondary education equivalent to 1-2 year college diploma in the areas of social work;
  • Preference will be given to candidates with post-secondary education in the field of social work;
  • Must possess valid driver’s license, have clean driver’s abstract, and be insurable
  • Current updated immunization required
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain current First Aid and CPR qualifications
  • Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a vulnerable sector criminal records check.
  • Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug test.

Salary

  • Based on qualifications and experience.
